Just like Jonah I tried to run away from the presence of God for a time. I did the exact opposite of what God personally told me to do. We call this struggling or wrestling with God. Jonah had done the same when he ran away from the call of God on his life. This was a tragic time in my life, grievous to me. I was in direct disobedience to God Who loves me. I paid a very high price for it; a broken heart. I suffered some financial loss too. Disobedience to our loving Lord carries a high price. Jesus is our merciful Master. He always wants the best for our lives. We need to seek His face continually.
Yet Jesus delivered me from all my troubles when I sought His face. Just like He delivered Jonah when Jonah cried out to God in the belly of the great fish. The Lord wasn't done with Jonah. The Lord isn't done with you or me either. THIS MESSAGE FROM THE LORD CAME TO JONAH THE SECOND TIME: "GET UP AND GO TO NINEVEH, THAT GREAT CITY, AND PROCLAIM TO IT THE MESSAGE THAT I TELL YOU." SO JONAH GOT UP AND WENT TO NINEVEH TO DO WHAT THE LORD HAD ORDERED. (Jonah 3:1-3 ISV)
Hagar ran away once also. She ended up alone in the desert, dying of thirst with her son. Then the Angel of the Lord came to her. He gave her a spring of water. The Lord told her what to do. He sent her back to Sarah and Abraham. SHE GAVE THIS NAME TO THE LORD WHO SPOKE TO HER: "YOU ARE THE GOD WHO SEES ME," FOR SHE SAID, "I HAVE NOW SEEN THE ONE WHO SEES ME." (Gen. 16:13 NIV) I AM THE LORD WHO SEARCHES THE HEART, WHO TESTS THE INNER DEPTHS..(Jer. 17:10a ISV) Jesus says: .. I AM THE ONE WHO SEARCHES MINDS AND HEARTS.. (Rev. 2:23b)
