God's Glorious Light

  God's glorious light in the new heavens and earth will be even more beautiful than light in this age.

The book of Revelation describes it this way:  THE CITY (New Jerusalem) HAS NO NEED OF THE SUN OR THE MOON BECAUSE THE GLORY OF GOD GAVE IT LIGHT, AND THE LAMB WERE ITS LAMPS.  THE NATIONS WILL WALK IN ITS LIGHT AND THE KINGS OF THE EARTH WILL BRING THEIR GLORY INTO IT.  ITS GATES WILL NEVER BE SHUT AT THE END OF THE DAY- BECAUSE THERE WILL BE NO NIGHT THERE. (Rev. 21:23-25)  Our relationship with God will be more intimate; face to face:  HIS SERVANTS WILL WORSHIP HIM AND SEE HIS FACE, AND HIS NAME WILL BE ON THEIR FOREHEADS.  THERE WILL BE NO MORE NIGHT AND THEY WILL NOT NEED ANY LIGHT FROM LAMPS NOR THE SUN BECAUSE THE LORD GOD WILL SHINE ON THEM. THEY WILL RULE FOREVER AND EVER. (Rev. 22:3c-5)  EVEN SO, COME LORD JESUS.  Reading about God's light in eternity brings me into a state of worship, loving Him even more.  I can hardly wait for that day.

    The Prophet Isaiah explains God's glorious light in the eternal state this way:  THE SUN WILL NO MORE BE YOUR LIGHT BY DAY, NOR WILL THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE MOON SHINE ON YOU, FOR THE LORD WILL BE YOUR EVERLASTING LIGHT AND YOUR GOD WILL BE YOUR GLORY. YOUR SUN WILL NEVER SET AGAIN AND YOUR MOON WILL WANE NO MORE; THE LORD WILL BE YOUR EVERLASTING LIGHT AND YOUR DAYS OF SORROW WILL END.(Is.60:19,20NIV)

     The daylight during the millenium will be much brighter when Messiah rules and reigns on earth.  Yet, it won't be harsh. MOREOVER THE LIGHT OF THE MOON WILL BE LIKE THE LIGHT OF THE SUN AND THE LIGHT OF THE SUN WILL BE SEVEN TIMES BRIGHTER, LIKE THE LIGHT OF SEVEN FULL DAYS, WHEN THE LORD BINDS UP THE BRUISES OF HIS PEOPLE AND HEALS THE WOUNDS INFLICTED BY HIS BLOW.(Is. 30:26ISV)  The deserts will bloom as the rose and the barren plains will grow groves and forests of fruitful trees.  

     Light is also a metaphor for spiritual awakening, salvation in the New Testament.
