Struggling with God
Wrestling, struggling (ISV) with God is something we all do many times in our lives, like Jacob. (Gen. 32:22,32) It implies relationship, up close and intimate with God; face to face, just like Jacob. I've wrestled and struggled with God many times in my life. Have you? God always does right. He wins every time. It's for our well being. Jesus always has our bests interests at heart. AND WE KNOW THAT GOD CAUSES EVERYTHING TO WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE WHO LOVE GOD AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE FOR THEM. (Rom. 8:28 NLT)
Genesis 32 says: AND SO JACOB WAS LEFT ALONE, AND HE STRUGGLED (WRESTLED) WITH A MAN UNTIL DAYBREAK. . "I WON'T LET YOU GO," JACOB REPLIED, "UNLESS YOU BLESS ME.".. AND HE SAID "YOUR NAME SHALL NO MORE BE CALLED JACOB, BUT ISRAEL; FOR AS A PRINCE HAVE YOU POWER WITH GOD AND WITH MEN, AND HAVE PREVAILED." (v.28 AKJV) .. The name Israel means 'He Will Be a Prince with God' (Jones Dictionary of Old Testament Names). Israel also means, 'Who Prevails with God', 'Prince of God', and 'Triumphant with God'.
Struggling with God through prayer is powerful. We can prevail too. God likes this intimacy with Him. He loves us. He's our God. God yearns for this one on one relationship with each of us. Don't stop praying. James 5:16b: THE PRAYER OF A RIGHTEOUS PERSON IS POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE (ISV) . TREMENDOUS POWER IS MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH A GOOD MAN'S EARNEST PRAYER. (Phillips)
