Naomi

(bible-peopleinfo)

            Love's Election

Of course it was right in God;s sight for Naomi to go get Ruth.  She had been chosen before the foundation of the world to be a great forbear of our Lord, Messiah Jesus.  Many are called, few are chosen. Naomi had no idea that God had called her to Moab to find Ruth, neither did Ruth.  After all the grief and loss in Moab Naomi was going to walk home alone, and die on the way.  God, gave her the most faithful, tenderhearted young lady to be her daughter-in-law.  There was no way Ruth would let a senior widow walk away and die.  Ruth told. "Where you die, that's where I'm going to die also.."  Ruth is a woman after God's own heart.  A fine, faithful young lady who was willing to lay down her life for Naomi.  Of course, we see why God wanted her in the Messianic line of our loving Messiah.

The verse that comes to me during this whole book is All things work together for the good for those who love the lord and are called according to his purposes.  (Romans)  Only in retrospect can we see that the bitter, broken hearted Naomi was divinely chosen to find Ruth, clear in Moab.  Naomi paid a high price in the death of her men, yet, God in His infinite mercy, gave her a wonderful young grandson, Obed, to heal her broken heart and her broken life.  I can only praise God that He chose women with mercy, wisdom, and kindness, and generosity to be in the family line of Messiah.  Makes me love Jesus even more.
The women said to Naomi, "Praise be to the Lord, Who this day has not left you without a guardian- redeemer.  He will renew your youth and sustain you in your old age.  Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared from him.  The women living there says, Naomi has a son."  (Ruth 4:14a,16,17a NIV)
Jesus is our Ultimate Son, full of mercy, grace, and forgiveness.

He will never leave us not forsake us.  "For unto us a child is given, a Son is born.  And the government shall be upon His shoulders." (Is. 9:6a)
